What is a Ductless Mini Split System?

A ductless mini split system consists of one outdoor compressor/condenser unit and one or more indoor air handlers (heads) connected via refrigerant lines and electrical wiring. Our Installation Process

Here’s how we do a typical ductless mini-split installation to ensure you get a system that works well, lasts long, and gives you the comfort you expect:

1. Initial Consultation & Load Analysis
   We visit the site to assess your space: square footage, insulation, orientation to sun, usage patterns, where indoor heads would go (wall-mounted, ceiling-cassette, floor-mounted, etc.), electrical capacity, and any special challenges. We’ll calculate the heating and cooling load to size both the outdoor and indoor units properly.

2. System Design & Zone Planning
   Based on your layout and comfort preferences, we’ll recommend either a single-zone system (one indoor unit) or a multi-zone setup with multiple indoor units connected to the same outdoor compressor. We provide different styles of heads as needed for aesthetics and space constraints.

3. Equipment Selection
   We help you choose units with high SEER/HSPF ratings, inverter technology (variable speed), quiet operation, advanced filtration, and compatible controls/thermostats. Prioritize efficiency, durability, and features that will give long-term value.

4. Site Preparation & Installation
   We locate the outdoor condenser with good ventilation and minimal exposure to extremes, run the refrigerant tubing, electrical wiring, and condensate drain lines behind walls or through small penetrations. Indoor units are mounted securely, with proper clearance and accurate leveling.

5. Commissioning & Testing
   Once installed, we test refrigerant charge, verify thermostat calibration, check all indoor heads for proper airflow, ensure drainage is correct, inspect for leaks, and run the whole system in both heating and cooling modes (if applicable) to ensure it meets performance expectations.

6. User Training & Maintenance Guidance
   We walk you through how to operate the system, adjust each zone, clean or change filters, schedule periodic checkups, and maintain the outdoor unit. We also explain warranty terms so you know what is covered.
